About Lanternvale Bank

A fictional bank story, written for software testing: from one small branch in 1987 to a full-service bank for people and businesses.

Hillside city of stone houses at dusk

This story is fictional. Lanternvale Bank does not exist and offers no financial services.

Our story

Lanternvale Bank was founded in 1987 (fictional) by a group of merchants in the Old Souq Quarter who wanted a bank that understood family businesses. The first branch had four counters and a single lantern above the door, which became our name and our symbol.

Through the 1990s we grew with the city, opening branches in new districts and launching our first home finance product. In 2004 we opened our Islamic banking window, offering Mudaraba and Murabaha products side by side with conventional banking. In 2019 we launched the Lanternvale mobile app, and today most customers bank with us from their phones.

What we do

Leadership

The bank is led by a Chief Executive Officer, a Chief Financial Officer, a Chief Risk Officer, a Head of Islamic Banking, a Head of Retail Banking and a Head of Business Banking, overseen by a Board of Directors and an independent Sharia Supervisory Board. All roles are fictional and no real people are named.

Governance

A real bank of this kind would be licensed and subject to local banking regulation. Lanternvale Bank holds no licence of any kind because it is not real.
